Silent Night; Away in a Manger;

CHRISTMAS CAROLS

VILLANCICOS

In the English and Spanish speaking worlds there are some wonderful christmas carols, villancicos. Silent Night is perhaps one of the more famous songs at this time of year, so we thought we would show the lovely sentiments which are expressed in both languages through the medium of these christmas carols.

Navidad - Madrid

SILENT NIGHT / NOCHE DE PAZ
ENGLISH CAROL SPANISH CAROL TRANSLATED SPANISH VILLANCICO

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

Night of peace, night of love,
Everyone sleeps all around.
Among the stars who spread its light
Beautifully announcing the baby Jesus.
The star of peace shines,
The star of peace shines.

Night of peace, night of love,
Everyone sleeps all around.
The shepherds in the field are
Just watching in the darkness
The star of Bethlehem,
The star of Bethlehem.

Night of peace, night of love,
Everyone sleeps all around.
Over the holy child Jesus
A star sheds its light
Shines on the King,
Shines on the King.

Night of peace, night of love,
Everyone sleeps all around.
The faithful keep watch there in Bethlehem
The shepherds, his mother too,
And the star of peace,
And the star of peace.

Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor.
Entre sus astros que esparcen su luz
Bella anunciando al niñito Jesús.
Brilla la estrella de paz,
Brilla la estrella de paz.

Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor.
Sólo velan en la oscuridad
Los pastores que en el campo están
Y la estrella de Belén,
Y la estrella de Belén.

Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor.
Sobre el santo niño Jesús
Una estrella esparce su luz,
Brilla sobre el Rey,
Brilla sobre el Rey.

Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor;
Fieles velando allí en Belén
Los pastores, la madre también,
Y la estrella de paz,
Y la estrella de paz.

AWAY IN A MANGER / JESÚS EN PESEBRE
ENGLISH CAROL SPANISH CAROL TRANSLATED SPANISH VILLANCICO

Away in a manger
No crib for his bed
The little Lord Jesus
Lay down his sweet head

The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where he lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing
The baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying he makes

I love thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side
Until morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord Jesus
I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray

Bless all the dear children
In thy tender care
And take us to heaven
To live with thee there

Jesus in the manger,
was born without a crib
His tender head
slept in the hay.

The shining stars
Provided light
For the sleeping child
Little Jesus

The cattle are lowing
And he awakes
But Christ was good
And never cried

I love you, oh Christ,
Look at me yes,
Here in my cot,
Thinking of you.

I ask you Jesus
That you keep me safe
Loving me forever
Like I love you

To all the children
You give your blessing
And make us more worthy
Of your great heaven

Jesús en pesebre
sin cuna, nació;
Su tierna cabeza
en heno durmió.

Los astros, brillando,
prestaban su luz
al niño dormido,
pequeño Jesús.

Los bueyes bramaron
y Él despertó,
mas Cristo fue bueno
y nunca lloró.

Te amo, oh Cristo
Y mirame, si
Aqui en mi Cuma,
Pensando en ti.

Te pido, Jesús
Que me guardes a mi
Amandome siempre
Como te amo a ti

A todos los niños
Da tu bendición
Y haznos mas dignos
De tu gran mansión
