Spain has produced a wide variety of world class artists over the last millenium. They have contributed to a rich vein of art styles which has developed European art from fairly drab Mannerist approaches, through the deep colours of Baroque and delicate rounded forms of Rococo to the classical austerity of Neoclassicism and the nationalism of Romanticism and the naturalism of Realism. In more recent years, in the twentieth century, the boundaries of art have been further pushed out by artists like Picasso and Dalí.
