Por and Para

This page gives some simple examples to help you decide when to use Por or Para. Some of these seem easier to learn than others, so why not aim at least to consolidate these in your mind first. Then look to add the others to your repertoire on a gradual basis.

Verb on intentionor purpose (in order to...)

  • Fueron para comprar pan.

PURPOSE

Noun of intention or purpose (get or fetch something)

  • Fueron por pan

Employment

  • Trabajo para el Banco de España
