SPANISH SUBJUNCTIVE

The Spanish subjunctive should be used for:

 

1) Desire

Ejemplo:

Espero que haga buen tiempo en las vacaciones

I hope the weather will be good on our holidays

2) Ignorance

Ejemplos (examples):

I doubt that the hotel will include all drinks free of charge

Yo dudo que el hotel incluya todas las bebidas libres en la cuenta

3)Impersonal opinion

Ejemplos:

It's advisable to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, because you get there much quicker than the free bus transport which goes around all the hotels.

Conviene que tome un taxi del aeropuerto al hotel porque llega mas pronto que el autobus gratis que va a todos los hoteles.

4) Uncompleted action

Ejemplo:

We will eat after we reach the hotel and get washed

Comamos despues llegamos al hotel y nos lavamos

5) Vague or indefinite antecedent

Ejemplo:

Isn`t there anyone who can help the tourist

No hay nadia que pueda ayudar al tourista

6) Maybe / perhaps

Ejemplo:

Perhaps we can wait until we get back to the hotel

Quiza podamos esperar hasta que regresemos al hotel

7) Even if

Ejemplo:

Even if it costs a hundred euros we will buy it.

Aunque cueste cien euros vamos a comprarlo
