CYCLE MEXICO

Our friend did a charity cycle Mexico in November 2009. The cycle was 479Km across the Yucatan Peninsula and he was raising money for "Children with Leukaemia".

Pat updated us at F-L-S with his progress across Mexico. Highlights of the trip included a sightseeing tour of Merida, a tour of Chichen Itza - one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, a visit to Valladolid - a charming colonial town and the trip finished by the Caribbean sea. Nuestro amigo Pat salió en bicicleta para un fin benéfico a través de México en noviembre 2009. La ruta era 479km por la península Yucatán y recaudó dinero para "Children with Leukaemia".

Pat nos mantuvo al corriente con su progreso por México. Lugares interesantes que visitó incluían una visita turística de Mérida, una gira de Chichen Itza - una de las Nuevas 7 Maravillas del Mundo, una visita a Valladolid - un pueblo colonial y encantandor, y el viaje terminó en la costa caribeña. ITINERARY - ITINERARIO
Mexico map DAY 1: Fly London to Cancun. Transfer to Merida to overnight.   DÍA 1: Vuelo Londres a Cancún. Transbordo a Mérida durante la noche.
DAY 2: Tour of Merida. Bike fitting and a chance to relax.   DÍA 2: Visita a Mérida. Prueba de bicicletas y una oportunidad para relajarse.

DAY 5: Early morning visit to a monastery before continuing our cycling through jungle like scenery. 76km   DÍA 5: Visita por la mañana a un monasterio antes de continuar en bici por el campo boscoso. 76km
DAY 6: Tour of Chichen Itza, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Back on the bikes to Valladolid, a charming colonial town. 61km   DÍA 6: Visita a Chichén Itzá, una de las Nuevas 7 Maravillas del Mundo. Volver a los bicis para ir a Valladolid, un pueblo colonial y encantador. 61 km
DAY 7: Almost half of today is off road cycling. A tough day, but well worth it to see Maya countryside close up. 80km   DÍA 7: Casi la mitad del día es ciclismo en las calles rurales. Un día que supone un desafío pero vale la pena para ver el campo Maya. 80km
     
DAY 8: Cycle to Tulum and finish the ride on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. 57km   DÍA 8: Ir en bici a Tulum y terminar el viaje en la costa caribeña. 57km

DAY 9: Free day to relax on the beach.   DÍA 9: Dia libre para relajarse en la playa.
DAY 10: Transfer to Cancun airport for return flight to London.   DÍA 10: Transbordo al aeropuerto de Cancún para la vuelta a Londres.

DATE / FECHA: 23 November We've so far cycled through Yucatan countryside and many small towns, visited a Monastery and cycled through the jungle. Nearly 300 km in total - we all have aches and pains in places we didn't know existed but spirits are high!

DATE / FECHA: 24 November I have been doing quite well in the group and was awarded the yellow jersey at dinner last night which was a nice surprise.
DATE / FECHA: 25 November Today is the hardest day apparently as its 80k all off road. It's also raining cats and dogs (caen chuzos de punta) so I expect we are in for an interesting day! See depth of water on photo to the right.
