BEACH DIALOGUES

At the beach: A la playa

Here are some typical dialogues which will provide you with useful phrases and vocabulary for when you are visiting the beach.

Asking for sun-loungers and parasols
Pedir por hamacas y sombrillas

To the assistant:How much are the sun-loungers and parasols?
Al asistante:¿Cuánto es para las hamacas y las sombrillas?

Assistant: Seven euros for the loungers/day, and five euros for a parasol or ten euros/day for the two.
Asistante: Siete euros para las hamacas por día y cinco euros para una sombrilla; o diez euros por día para las dos.

To the assistant: Could we have three loungers and a parasol please?
Al asistante: Queremos tres hamacas y una sombrilla por favor.

Yes of course, that will be twenty euros please.
Vale por supuesto; será veinte euros en total por favor.

Have you change for a fifty euros note?
¿Tiene cambio para un billete de cincuenta euros?

Yes no problem, here you are, thank you. I will bring the parasol.
Sí por supuesto; aquí está muchas gracias.  Le traigo la sombrilla.

Thank you.
Gracias.

Where would you like me to put the parasol?
¿Adónde quiere que ponga la sombrilla?

Just in between these two loungers please.
Encima de estas dos hamacas por favor.

OK. I have to collect the parasols again at five pm.
Vale. Tengo que recoger las sombrillas a las cinco.

Beach ice cream/cool drinks
Helados/bebidas frescas en la playa

What flavours of ice cream do you have?
¿Qué sabores de helado tiene?

There is vanilla, strawberry, raspberry, lemon and cola. There are also these big ice-lollies with ice cream inside.
Hay vainilla, fresa, frambuesa, limón y coca-cola. Tenemos también estas paletas heladas grandes llenadas con helado.

I would like two vanilla and a strawberry ice cream please.
Nos gustaría dos helados de vainilla y uno de fresa por favor.

That is six euros please.
Seis euros por favor.

I have a ten euro note
Tengo un billete de diez euros.

Here are your ice creams.
Aquí están los helados.

Thank you, good bye.
Gracias, adiós.

Fruit and pineapple vendors - `cool melon or pineapple by the slice’
Vendedores de fruta y piña - `melón fresco o piña por raja’

How much is the melon?
¿Cuánto es para el melón?

It is one euro per slice.
Es un euro por raja.

And how much is the pineapple?
¿Y cuánto es para la piña?

That is three euros per slice.
Es tres euros por raja.

I will take two pieces of melon and one piece of pineapple please.
Vale tomo dos rajas de melón y una de piña por favor.

Ok that is five euros please, here is the fruit, enjoy.
Vale es cinco euros en total por favor. Aquí está la fruta - difrutela!

Gracias.

At the beach café
Al café en la playa

What types of sandwiches do you sell?
¿Qué tipos de bocadillos vende?

We do various, what would you like?
Tenemos varios, ¿qué le apetece?

Do you have ham and cheese or chicken?
¿Tiene jamón y queso o pollo?

Yes we do both, what would you like. We do them in a baguette or in sliced bread.
Sí tenemos los dos, ¿cuál le gustaría? Los hacemos en baguete o en pan rebanada.

Could I have one ham with salad, one with ham and cheese and one with chicken all in baguettes please?
Puedo tener uno de jamón con ensalada, uno de jamón y queso y uno de pollo - todos en baguete por favor?

Sure. Would you like some drinks?
Claro. ¿Le gustaría bebidas también?

Yes, could I have a small beer for me and also a coke. Also what types of fruit juice do you have?
Sí, me gustaría una cerveza pequeña para mí y una coca-cola también. Además, ¿qué tipos de zumo de fruta tiene?

There is orange, pineapple, apple or strawberry.
Hay naranjo, piña, manzana o fresa.

I’ll take a pineapple please.
Quiero piña por favor.

Fine.
Vale.

Here are the sandwiches - ham with salad, ham and cheese, and chicken. That will be fifteen euros fifty please altogether.
Aquí están los bocadillos - jamón con ensalada, jamón y queso y lo de pollo. Es quince euros cincuenta en total por favor.

Here is twenty.
Aquí hay veinte.
